So yeah if you're running Vista plus some larger programs, a gig won't leave you with much room to move around. But if you're not going to be running massive programs at the same time and all you'll be doing is basic stuff, then a gig wouldn't be too bad. But I see your point. I personally couldn't run Vista on a gig, but someone else might.
